Kenya commemorates World Cancer Day 2013 (WHO Information Bulletin - Volume 1: Feb 2013)
Nairobi, 04 February 2013 -- Kenya joined the rest of the world in marking World Cancer Day. The national event was commemorated as a media briefing, held at the Sarova PanAfric Hotel in Nairobi. The occasion was attended by senior government officials, development partners and various civil society groups. The Minister of Medical Services, Hon. Prof. Peter Anyang Nyong’o graced the occasion.
The Director of Public Health & Sanitation, Dr. Sharif represented the Minister for Public Health & Sanitation. Other dignitaries included the WHO Country Representative, Dr Custodia Mandlhate; the Chair of the Tobacco Control Board; the CEO of Kenyatta National Hospital; Director of Kenya Hospice & Palliative Care Association; and the Chair of Africa Cancer Foundation.
