Bauchi, 20 December 2018 - The World Health Organization (WHO) has been commended for the donation, installation and hand over of an incinerator – INCiNER-8- to the Bauchi State Ministry of Health. The Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary HealthCare Development Agency (EC-BSPHCDA) Mr Ibrahim Gamawa, who received the incinerator on behalf of the Bauchi State Ministry of Health, described WHO as an indispensable partner in the health sector development in the state. 

Abuja, 14 December, 2018 - The Federal Government in collaboration with key partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO) recently resolved to redouble efforts to tackle the menace of unsafe abortions and adolescent pregnancies. Teenage pregnancies particularly in secondary and tertiary institutions are on the rise, leading many of the affected to commit unsafe abortions – as abortion is illegal in Nigeria.

Maiduguri, 12 November 2018 - With more than 2 700 volunteers spread across seven local government areas of Borno state, the 4th cycle of seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) campaign is underway. World Health Organization (WHO) is supporting the State Ministry of Health to reach more than 850 000 children with anti-malaria drugs in the concluding cycle of the campaign for 2018. 

The campaign aims to reduce the burden of malaria especially among children 3-59 months who have been predisposed to mosquito bites in the crisis-torn Borno state. 

Zamfara, 6 November, 2018 - The World Health Organization (WHO) is supporting health authorities in Zamfara with the necessary preparation for the implementation of the first Oral Cholera Vaccination (OCV) campaigns.  Similar activity and assistance will be provided to Katsina and Kebbi States. 

Abuja, 1 November, 2018 - Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole indicated on 30 October 2018 that the country will soon be on track to eliminating the dreaded Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDs).

“I must inform you that since the beginning of the National HIV response about 1,066,223 people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIVs) including 54,167 children have been placed on treatment with support from donors, development partners and the Government of Nigeria”, Professor Adewole said.
