The National Health Sector Strategic Plan (NHSSP) of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation 2010 – 2015 serves as a guide in strengthening the health system in the country.
Numerous state and non-state actors contribute in their various roles towards the attainment of the overall health sector’s goal. Through the process of implementing the Free Health Care Initiative, Sierra Leone has proved that greater results are realised through joint efforts. This nonetheless requires a strong government leadership and coordination to ensure convergence in direction, vision and momentum. In addition, regular review of progress made towards attainment of set goal and targets is key. The Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) with technical support from WHO and partners conducted a Joint Sector Performance Review Mission.
