WHO Strengthens Zimbabwe's Health System
Harare, 22 October 2009. The Zimbabwean health system was given a boost yesterday when WHO handed over vehicles and other commodities to strengthen EPI surveillance, and disease outbreak preparedness and response to the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, WHO Representative, Dr Custodia Mandlhate said, in an effort to support the Ministry of health and Child Welfare to respond to the burden of communicable and non communicable diseases; to better prepare for emergency preparedness and response; to improve surveillance for vaccine preventable diseases; and to undertake activities to prevent malaria, WHO used its resource mobilization capacity to purchase for the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare the following.
