20% of Zimbabwean students using tobacco products

Harare, 28 January 2016 - This was revealed in the summary report of the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) country report for Zimbabwe which was launched on Wednesday 27th January in Harare. The GYTS was conducted in 2014, and involved a representative sample of grade 7 pupils and forms 1—3 students aged 13 –15 years. It was a questionnaire based survey that consisted of 6,427 eligible students drawn from randomly selected classes from 100 sampled schools with a response rate of 70.4%.

Zimbabweans urged to shun fast foods to prevent diabetes

Zimbabwe | WHO calls for the implementation of a national pharmaceutical policy

Harare, 11 October 2016  - The call was made by WHO Representative Dr David Okello at the Pharmaceutical Society of Zimbabwe’s Annual Pharmacists’ Indaba. Dr Okello said this policy, which should be well-integrated within the national health policy, is the  first step in the Government's efforts to ensure access to medicines for its population. “Such a policy should also define the regulatory framework for assuring product quality, safety and efficacy, and governance of functional and administrative processes,” said Dr Okello.

Zimbabwe scores big on HIV control

WHO hosts UN @ 71 commemorations

Launch of WCO/Zimbabwe CCS and the National Health Strategy

Murewa, 25 January 2017 - WCO/Zimbabwe’s  3rd generation Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS 2016-2020)  was concurrently launched with the National Health Strategy (NHS 2016-2020)  at a huge event held at Murewa District Hospital.  The joint and colorful function,  was attended by many players in health – including senior Government officials, parliamentarians, civil society organizations and members of the local communities in Murewa District; as well as health development partners and donors.

WHO Zimbabwe and Swedish Embassy strengthen relations

21 March 2017 - In a move that is meant to strengthen relations between WHO Zimbabwe and the Swedish Embassy, the new Swedish Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellence, Mrs Sophia Calltorp, and the Desk Officer for Health, Ms Angelica Broman paid a courtesy call to WHO Zimbabwe Country Office to discuss areas of cooperation through their aid agency SIDA (Swedish International Development Agency).
