Juba, 22 November 2018 – The Ministry of Health, WHO and partners, concluded a two-day consultative meeting to review the implementation of the Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) control activities in South Sudan for the past seven years (2011 to 2018).  

The objective of the meeting was to review the implementation of the VL control activities from 2011 to 2018; discuss the lessons learned and reporting formats as well as reporting on drug consumption at health facility level on monthly basis especially AmBisome.

South Sudan declares Yellow fever outbreak in Sakure, Nzara County, Gbudue State

Juba, 29 November 2018 – The Ministry of Health has declared a Yellow Fever (YF) outbreak today (29 November) in Sakure, Nzara County, Gbudue state.

The declaration was preceded by a briefing meeting with His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of South Sudan, to gain a high level political support, commitment and advocate for improved access to the affected area.

Juba, 9 November 2018 - To improve immunization outcomes in South Sudan, the Ministry of Health with support from WHO and partners conducted an annual joint appraisal of the country’s immunization programme from 6 to 9 November 2018.

13 October 2018, Juba – In an effort to provide quality emergency health services including basic package of health and nutrition services, WHO is implementing an integrated health, nutrition and WASH services to save the lives of populations at risk.

To reach people with virtually no health, WHO deployed the mobile medical team (MMT) to priority locations across the country to provide and contribute to quality emergency health services including basic package of health and nutrition services in a prompt and effective manner to populations at risk.

Juba, 5 October 2018 –Dr Olu, Olushayo Oluseun, the newly appointed World Health Organization (WHO) Representative for South Sudan who presented his letter of credentials yesterday, 4 October 2018 to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Presenting his credentials, Dr Olu says, “with Ebola virus disease on our doorstep, I would like to join the Minister of Health in leading a multisectoral approach to ensure that the country is well prepared”.
