The Second edition of the "Abuja Walk the Talk"
Abuja, 11 September, 2019 - As part of the activities leading to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) High-level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to be held in New York on the 23 September 2019, the second edition of the Abuja Walk the Talk: “The Health for All Challenge” is being planned with the main aim of raising awareness about Universal Health Coverage (UCH).
The UNGA will bring together Heads of State, political and health leaders, policy-makers, and universal health coverage champions to advocate for health for all. The theme for the meeting is “Universal Health Coverage: Moving Together to Build a Healthier World.”
The first edition of the Walk the Talk which took place on 18 May 2018 was a great success with over 2 000 participants. It was organized by WHO in collaboration with Nigeria’s Ministries of Health, Youths and Sports as well as the Wellbeing Foundation.
This year, the walk will be expanded to include all UN organizations, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, International and local NGOs, Foundations, Diplomatic missions, Civil Society, Philanthropic Organizations, Academia, the private sector and members of the public.
The free walk/run/dance event to be held on 14 September 2019 at Millennium Park Abuja from 6.00am to 11.00am, will be open to people of all ages and abilities and be held over three distances (short 3 kilometres, medium 5 kilometres and long 8 kilometres).
