19 December 2020 — One hundred and twenty- seven(127) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4076 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to seven thousand, two hundred, and twenty-two (7232). To date, six thousand, and eighty-nine (6089) patients have recovered, with no one in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand and eighty-four (1084) and fifty-nine (59) deaths. The 2 new deaths are male of 90 and 57 years old respectively in Kigali.

The new cases are in Kigali (76) contacts of positive cases in home based care, Rusizi(12), Musanze (12), Rubavu (11), Gakenke (6), Kirehe (5), Huye (2), Kayonza (1), Rwamagana (1, and Muhanga (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
