Capacity building of program managers on conducting operational researches
The Ministry of Health of Rwanda in collaboration with WHO organized a two day workshop from 13th to 14th December 2011 to define priority operation/implementation research questions. The role of operation/implementation research is significantly to improve access to efficacious health interventions by developing practical solutions to common, critical problems in the implementation of these interventions. Therefore the workshop objectives were:
to strengthen capacity of programme managers from the Ministry of Health and partners to identify problems surrounding the implementation of MCH services/interventions in Rwanda,
to identify priorities questions for operation/implementation research contributing to scaling up maternal, newborn and child health interventions relevant to MDG4 and MDG5, and
to agree on ways to promote the research to address priority issues identified.
To address most of the common life-threatening conditions in the African Region, countries have adopted a set of priority interventions such as Ante Natal Care (ANC), newborn care, appropriate infant feeding, immunization, Integrated Management of Neonatal and Child illnesses (IMCI), Impregnated and Treated Networks (ITNs)
