Ministry of Health and Sanitation Held Consultative Workshop on the Joint Programme of Work & Funding
With completion of the country compact, the Ministry of Health and Sani-tation (MoHS) initiated a process to develop the first Joint Programme of Work and Funding (JPWF), a three-year shared health sector plan. The plan provides a comprehensive framework for aligning interventions to sector priorities and links the long-term policies and development strate-gies as defined in the National Health Sector Strategic Plan with the An-nual Operational Plan (AoP). It is prepared under the leadership of MoHS with the spirit of “One Plan”, “One Budget” and “One Report” and principles of harmonisation and alignment of the country compact.
The JPWF development seeks a “country led” process leading to evidence-based country priorities that builds on existing in-country processes and experience. It also ensures inclusiveness of all key stakeholders including civil society to deepen resource to the country plan. The MoHS with technical and financial support of WHO and DFID is leading the process. The MoHS prepared the list of outputs and interventions, prioritised the inter-ventions and scheduled them against the year/s in which they would occur. This occurred in tandem with the on-going definition of sector re-source envelope, costing the proposed interventions and determination of the resource gap.
