Honorable Minister of Health visits WHO Country Office for Eritrea
Hon. Minister of Health, Mrs Amina Nurhussien made official visit to the WHO Country Office for Eritrea. The aim of the visit was to review ongoing collaboration between MOH and WHO; and explore new ways of strengthening collaboration in order to further improve the health outcomes of the people of Eritrea. The Hon. Minister was accompanied on the visit by Dr Andom O. Director General of policy and planning and Dr Ghirmai Tesfaslasie, advisor on International Relations.
During the visit, the minister and team were conducted round the premises by the WHO Representative to Eritrea, Dr Abdulmumini Usman. She held discussions with the entire staff members on WHO-MOH collaboration and was hosted to a reception by the staff association.
The minister highlighted the importance of WHO support and expressed her satisfaction with the level of collaboration with WHO. She remarked that the office is well organized and thanked the WCO for excellent reception within a short time.
The WHO Representative to Eritrea, Dr Abdulmumini Usman expressed his appreciation with the level of cooperation from the entire ministry of health, other government sectors and the Hon. Minister in particular. He highlighted that the support to the government was only possible because of the hard work as team sprit of the WHO staff. He pledged to continue to support the government health agenda.
The WCO Staff Association, presented the Hon. Minister a present as an expression of their gratefulness for the visit. The WHO staff expressed that the visit will further strengthen the working together for common goals.
MOH and WHO collaboration is a key component of the work to improve health outcomes in line with the WHO reform and the AFRO transformation agenda.
