The virtual session of the 70th Regional Committee for Africa was held on 25 August 2020 and resumed on 24 November 2020. It was held under the Special procedures to regulate the conduct of the virtual session of the Regional Committee for Africa. Special Events on the COVID-19 response in the region were held on both dates. On 25 August, another key event on  Celebrating certification of wild poliovirus eradication in the WHO African Region took place.
