Outbreaks and Emergencies Bulletin, Week 19: 6 - 12 May 2017
The African Region WHO Health Emergencies Programme is currently monitoring 47 events, 39 infectious diseases outbreaks and 8 humanitarian crises.
This edition (week 19) covers three new events, outbreaks of Ebola virus disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo, dengue fever in Côte d'Ivoire and Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever in Senegal (imported from Mauritania). In addition, the bulletin covers key ongoing events in the region, including the grade 3 humanitarian crises in Nigeria and South Sudan, the grade 2 humanitarian crisis in the Central African Republic and the meningitis outbreak in Nigeria as well as the undiagnosed illness in Liberia.
